If you're thinking about moving from Seattle to Bend, some of the biggest differences may be the everyday ones.
You can get almost anywhere pretty quickly. Bend is compact, and much of what you do around town is often within about 15 minutes.
You'll have fewer shopping choices. Bend is not a major metro area. Instead of having another version of the same store 20 minutes away, there may be only one. And some stores simply aren't here.
Nature feels incredibly close. Seattle has wonderful access to the outdoors, too. In Bend, though, trails, the river, mountain biking, skiing and the Cascades can feel like part of everyday life rather than a trip you have to plan.
Summer mornings can be surprisingly cool. The temperature difference between early morning and late afternoon can be dramatic. And in winter, snow is part of ordinary life.
And then there's the sunshine. Lots and lots of sunshine.
