When people think about buying a home in Bend, they often focus on the home itself. But sometimes it's the location and the lifestyle that become the deciding factors.
One neighborhood that deserves a closer look is Marken Summit.
Many of the homes here have been built within the last five to ten years, making it an attractive option for buyers who appreciate newer construction. Some of these homes enjoy mountain views, and another feature that appeals to many buyers is the absence of an HOA.
What I also find interesting about Marken Summit is its location.
The neighborhood sits just across from Central Oregon Community College (COCC), making it easy to enjoy everything the campus offers. Even if you're not taking classes, COCC hosts lectures, concerts, community events, and continuing education opportunities throughout the year. For many people, having those resources nearby becomes an unexpected benefit of living in the area.
The location also provides convenient access to the west side of Bend, downtown, and many of the outdoor activities that make Central Oregon such a wonderful place to live.
Of course, no neighborhood is perfect for everyone.
Every buyer has different priorities. Some are looking for mature trees and established neighborhoods. Others prefer the clean lines, energy efficiency, and floor plans often found in newer homes. Some value mountain views, while others place greater importance on walkability or proximity to work.
That's why I spend so much time listening before I recommend neighborhoods.
The right neighborhood isn't simply the one with the newest homes or the best views. It's the one that fits your reasons for moving.
If you're considering a move to Bend and would like to compare Marken Summit with other neighborhoods, I'd be happy to help you think through which areas best fit your priorities.
